Congratulations to Carpenter Students

This year has been going really fast and we have already had students' work in 3 shows and we still have 3 more shows before the end of the year.

Work by two 5th Graders, one 4th Grader, one 3rd Grader and one 1st Grader made an impression in the 13th District Michigan Art Education Association Show. Work by three of the students will continue on to State Competition. We will find out more about their competition status in March 2012. I attended the Gallery Reception at Adrian College on February 26th.

More than 70 pieces of art done by Carpenter student's are presently on display at the APPS Central Administration Building- Balas. Congratulations to all of those who were included.

The University of Michigan's School of Natural Resources and Environment is currently hosting a postcard competition that reflects Michigan and Carpenter has 6 entries. Congratulations 3rd Graders. Their work will be on display at the Dana Building March 5th- 10th with a special reception on March 7th. Update: We had one 3rd Grade Winner from Mrs. Cook's class.

The next Art Show began on March 1st. March is Youth Art Month. Work by Carpenter students will be displayed in the windows of Peaceable Kingdom and The Black Pearl. Letters to parents went home this week. Youth Art Month's Art Walk is set for Sunday March 18th from 4-5 and I will be at Peaceable Kingdom during that time.

The next two shows will be The Library Art Show- K-12 AAPS Art scheduled for April and The Slusser Show- K-12 AAPS Art. Again letters will go home with students whose work is on display.

If you have any questions about the shows please contact me at giltnerm@aaps.k12.mi.us.
